    automatically start an option from the taskbar (Word 2002 NL)

    Goodafternoon!

    Can anybody tell me if it's possible to automatically start the option show/hide (weergeven/verbergen) - a button on the taskbar - when I open a certain document.
    The following is necessary: I want people who open this particular document, to see the hidden text. This option is not standard activated, therefore it is needed to start this automaticcaly on opening.
    Maybe you have a different solution, I thought about remarks (opmerking), but this shows on the real print.... and I don't want that...

    Many thanks in advance!!!!!

    Would it be acceptable to create macros in the document? It would mean that users get a macro warning each time they open the document.

    It would be to me, but my users are too 'stupid' to understand this, they will think that everything will go wrong with their document...

    Bummer?

    I'm afraid I don't know how to do what you want without macros. <img src=/S/sorry.gif border=0 alt=sorry width=15 height=15>

    Boehoe.... well, can you show me how to do WITH macro's then? Maybe I can convince them of the usefulness?

    With the document open, activate the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11)
    In the Project Explorer, double click ThisDocument.
    Copy the following code into the module:

    Private Sub Document_Open()
    ActiveWindow.View.ShowHiddenText = True
    End Sub

    This will ensure that hidden text is displayed when the document is opened. If you like, you can also add

    Private Sub Document_Close()
    ActiveWindow.View.ShowHiddenText = False
    End Sub

    If you would want to show/hide hidden text when the user switches to another document and back, things would become more complicated.
