Outlook issues with Tablet PC (2002 SP-2)

I have a user that is experiencing issues trying to use Outlook with their Tablet PC. The device is relatively new (21G of free space, 232M of RAM, 995MHz), but when he tries to view his Email using Outlook, it sometimes takes upwards of 4 minutes to run its course. The rest of the programs on his machine seem to be running relatively well, with little or no performance degradation.

If anyone has suggestions as to what could be done to improve the performance on his machine, your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    Hi Marty,
In the MS tabletpc newgroup several people say that disabling Windows Messenger from starting with Outlook helped.

Re: Outlook issues with Tablet PC (2002 SP-2)

    Hey Joe:

I had a look at the various programs that were starting up, and Windows Messenger wasn't one of them. I also tried to selectively shut down any program that might have been starting with the tablet PC that might not have been necessary, but the only thing that was starting up was the Office Shortcut Bar. Could I chalk this up to not having enough resources to go around? I find that a little hard to believe, given the speed of the machine, but is a lack of resources a common occurrence on tablet PC's, specifically with Office applications?

    Thanks again...

    Marty,
If you are talking resources in the Win9x frame of reference then no. There is no such animal in an XP type OS. I just happened across some messenger issue posting in the microsoft.public.windows.tabletpc.developer newsgroup. You could search that group with Google to maybe find some other information.
