Access 97 and Office Xp (Office XP)

    Hi,

WRT migrating to Office Xp from Office 97, we are starting to think about deploying Office XP Standard (no Access 2002) keeping Access 97 (when present). We would upgrade to Access 2002 at a later date.

Are there any known problems with Access 97 interoperating with Office XP (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)? Our business areas often have Word, Access and Lotus Notes interacting with each other in develpoed applications.

    TIA,

    Jimmy Lee

Re: Access 97 and Office Xp (Office XP)

It isn't seamless. Access 97 was based on VB/VBA5, while Access 2000 and 2002 are based on VB/VBA6. There were significant changes in VBA between the two versions and Access 97 was not able to act as an automation server the way Word and Excel were.
