Sum by conditional formatting of font color (Excel 2000/2002)

    Hi there folks

What method can I use to sum or count cell content where a conditional format has been set that color font to a purple color?

    Thank you in anticipation

    Regards

    Lynden

Either use a Macro identifying font colour = purple, or, use the same condition that set the original conditional formatting.

If that condition is a simple one, then SUMIF or COUNTIF will work, if it is complex, then a more complex conditional is required.

See Conditional Formatting Colors on Chip Pearson's website for an example of the non-trivial VBA code needed to do this. It might be easier to test on the conditions used in conditional formatting, than on the conditional formatting itself.
