    Crashing Pc when looking at C Drive (Windows Xp home all updates)

    When ever i click on C: to see its contents my mouse and keyboard just frezze up and i can do anything untill i pull the plug on the computer and resart can anyone help? plz

    I think the first thing to do is to run a complete CHKDSK on the drive and make sure there are no errors.

    I agree with Mark. It's also worth looking in the System Event Log for anything which might appear relevant. (If you've not done it before, one way in is to click on Start, then on Control Panel, then on Administrative Tools, then on Event Viewer, then on System, then on the individual messages (ones with a red icon might be relevant).

    thanks for you help i ran chkdsk /f /x and it deleted about 30 indexs entrys and that sorted the problem once again thnks.
