    Comment (Excel 97)

    Question,

How do you change the colour of the comment indicator within a cell?

    Re: Comment (Excel 97)

    Hi

Right-click on the cell with the comment in it.
    Choose Edit Comment
Hover the mouse over the comment's edge until it changes to a 4 arrow, then right-click
    Choose Format Comment

This should bring up a full list of formatable properites such as back color, font colour etc

No, the comment indicator is hard-coded; its color, size and position cannot be customized. Moreover, other colors may have a special meaning:
    <hr>Red , upper-right corner of a cell indicates a Cell Comment
Black, upper-left corner indicates changes (Tools, Track Changes, Highlight Changes)
Green, upper-left corner of a cell indicates an error in the cell's formula [new in Excel 2002]
Purple, lower-right corner of a cell indicates a smart tag [new in Excel 2002]<hr>
If you really want to, you can use code to create a custom colored shape; see this newsgroup post.
