    sfc (Windows XP/SP1)

My computer came with XP. I have downloaded/installed SP1. I want to run SFC, but it keeps asking for the SP1 disk. If I put my original disk in it won't accept it. How do I get around this?

    Michele,
    Are you comfortable using regedit?

    Michele,
Check out this attachment. It is the registry key that specifies where the service pack is located. SFC should use it. I've also seen some comments in an MS newgroup that you could just re-install SP-1 and that should help. But, you'd probably have to apply the numerous fixes released since sp-1.
