Editing button in IE 6.0 (Windows XP/Office XP)

    Hi everyone!
I have run across a problem with the editing button on the IE toolbar. Normally, I have the choice of Microsoft Word, Excel or Notepad to choose from when I'm on a web page that allows editing text but for some reason the choice of using Word has disappeared (the only one I use!) My Word program is fine; does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks, as always, for your time!

    Hi Phil,
I did some reading and tried a few suggestions but it still wouldn't work. I played with the settings and somehow Microsoft Word is now a choice - Great! - except I just noticed that when I am on this page, only Notepad is available. Does this vary by website?
    Thanks so much.

I'm glad you got it working. I don't know if it varies by web site, as I haven't used IE for quite awhile. Maybe someone else can jump in. Sorry.

This page has a .pl (perl script) extension. I don't think Word automatically makes itself the editor for this kind of page. But... that said, I haven't tried to chase down all the possibilities. Also, I have FrontPage installed, which might preempt some of Word's normal behavior.

It varies with the site, some can not be edited and saved, I use "View source".
I too, have notepad only here.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
