    Characters in Registry

I exported a hive from the registry, and then when I went to open it in the editor, I got an error that there were 'strange' characters... This got me curious, so I didn't edit at all... just escaped out.

And then when I went to import, it wouldn't.... just gave me an error...

    What might this be?

    Regards,

    Chuck

Could you give a bit more information, please?

What did you use to export the registry? REGEDIT?
What editor did you use to read it with?
What precisely was the error message from the editor?
What did you use to import it again? REGEDIT Import? Or did you double-click on the .REG file?
What error message did you get when you tried to import it again?

This sort of information helps if you want to look up the problem on TechNet (for example!).

    John:

I tried to reproduce the error... but could not...

Could this be a corruption of one of the branches, you think? It might account for the disappearing act...
