    Automatic numbering (Excel 2002)

    I am trying to create some entrance tickets for a charity event (4 tix on A4 paper). The ticket numbers will double up as raffle tickets. My problem is that I have numbers 001, 002, 003, 004 on the page. At present, I am manually changing the numbers after printing each page, so 001 becomes 005, 002 becomes 006 and so on. I am sure it is possible to advance the numbers by 4 by e.g. simply pressing a macro'd button before printing the next page with the advanced numbers. Cells containing the numbers are C9 (001); I9 (002); C20 (003) and I20 (004). Grateful for any ideas. Thank you.

    Hi Mark,

    You could put formla in cells:
    I9 = C9+1
    C20 = I9+1
    I20 =C20+1
    and use a custom number format '000' for these cells and C9.

    That would reduce your updating workload by 75%. If you then simply copied the rows for the 'tickets' corresponding to C20 and I20 and pasted them down for as many tickets as you need (so that the ticket number rows appear at every 11th row), they'd all auto-number without any more effort on your part.

    Cheers
