Mute Video sound (2000/SR1)

I'm trying to help someone at work with a presentation. Thought it would be easy, but of course, it's not, at least not for me. Here is what he has. On a 25 slide presentation, he has a sound file that starts on slide #3. Timing is not critical. On slide #12, he has an 11 second video in MPG format. It has sound, that he doesn't want, and when the video starts, it kills the sound file that started on Slide #3. In fact, the sound file won't even start playing again if you re-run the slide show, you have to close the presentation and re-open it. I can't find a setting to mute the sound on the video. If we can mute it, will that stop the problem of killing the first sound file. I should admit, I have never done anything with video in PP so this is definately a learning experience. Thanks for any help.

Someone here may have a better idea, but I believe you'll need to edit the video in video editing software to remove the sound. Then reinsert that rerendered video into PPT.
