    FLASH DRIVE - Help Needed

Okay, I told my son-in-law to always back everything up - but oh well! He has a Flash Drive which he has saved all of this quarters work on (he is getting his Masters). He purchased the drive from Best Buy. All of the sudden when he plugs it in to the computer (his at home and the ones at school) it does not recognize the drive. The computer keeps asking to input. HELP! This is 2 months worth of work! Any ideas? Can the connector be bad? <img src=/S/beep.gif border=0 alt=beep width=15 height=15>

Re: FLASH DRIVE - Help Needed

I too had the same problem, one will resists just so many drops and washings in the washer before they have to be replaced. I lost ALL data on it, but I do NOT use it as backup, just to transport data

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I'm not sure it's applicable, but... there are a couple of "image recovery" programs designed to rescue files from CompactFlash cards that have become corrupted. Since the memory inside the USB flash drive is the same kind of memory, it seems possible that software like this might exist to help with those drives. Maybe search around on the web or call the manufacturer?

Re: FLASH DRIVE - Help Needed

I took some air to it and tried again and it still would not see the data. I then did go to a camera shop and purchased a "removable hardware" data recovery program. I am going to try this and pray it works! Thanks.
