Dial Up Problems

Anybody out there have any idea why, after years of absolutely NO problems with getting booted off, all of a sudden it happens nearly once every 10 minutes? My ISP blames the phone company and the phone company blames the ISP. Should I try another ISP for a month? I'm probably not even at the right place to be asking, but I'd be grateful for any input at this point (no DSL available and only cable available -Adelphia - is WAY out of our price range)

We need some more information to be able to help you, and to decide in which forum this post belongs. Could you tell us:
- Which operating system are you using? (i.e. Windows/Linux/MacOS/..., and which version?)
- What brand and type of modem are you using?
- Where are you located, and which ISP are you using now?

Was call waiting service recently added to your phone service? If so, the call waiting signal can cause some modems to disconnect when a call comes in.

Sorry I've taken so long to reply, and thanks for your response! We've had call waiting for some time and have our settings to reflect that. Thanks again for the suggestion!
