    Shading Rows (Excel 2002)

How do I alternate the shading of the rows from black to white?

You can use conditional formatting, see this John Walkenbach tip

    Re: Shading Rows (Excel 2002)

The conditional formating approach seems to work fine for most.

As an alternative, I've written an Excel add-in, "Shade Data Rows".
    1. It will shade identical adjacent rows with one color followed by
the next group of rows with identical values in another color.
In a sorted worksheet, it quickly identifies identical rows.

    2. It can also shade every nth row in alternating colors.

    3. Choice of gray, green and yellow with white as the alternating color.

Operates from a user form, comes with a one page Word.doc install/use instructions file.

Also mentioned in <post#=69000>post 69000</post#>, that whole thread is full of good reading.
