Thanks Rebel, but I did not see anything at settings that would allow me to change to express mode. Can you explain in detail what I should be looking for? Please reply.

    Re: NAV Express Mode

Please define what you mean by "Express mode ".

I have been using NAV since the early DOS days and don't remember ever seeing this term.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: NAV Express Mode

    pauliez,

To set LiveUpdate to Interactive or Express mode
    Open your Symantec product.
At the top of the window, click LiveUpdate.
On the LiveUpdate welcome screen, click Configure.
On the General tab of the LiveUpdate Configuration dialog box, select Interactive Mode or Express Mode.
If you selected Express Mode, select how you want to start checking for updates:
To have the option of cancelling the update, select I want to press the start button to run LiveUpdate.
To have any updates installed automatically whenever you start LiveUpdate, select I want LiveUpdate to start automatically.
    Click OK.

    Should do it for you.

That would be the same as removing the check mark in "Enable automatic Live/Update", on the Opitons and Automatic LiveUpdate

    Re: NAV Express Mode

Thank you Viking33 for your reply, but when I go to configure I only find two tabs. One is ISP and the other is Proxy. There is no general tab there. Something is odd because I had express mode before I reformatted my PC. Please reply. I have Win98SE and NAV 2001. All versions of NAV have express mode. I am going to put the disc back into the PC and read it's contents to see if there is any info there.

    Re: NAV Express Mode

    Hi Paulize,
The screenshot below is what I'm talking about, BUT maybe it's the Version of Liveupdate that needs, ah, updating?
I'm using version 2.0.xx something which is the latest one.
Liveupdate is a SEPARATE set of programs for Symantec products and can be used for Systemworks, NAV, Utilities, etc. It isn't even in the Norton folders and can be updated on it's own.
I would go to the Symantec site and search for Liveupdate and download the latest one.

The shot below shows going to interactive mode but just reverse the steps.

    Thanks, Bob

As a result of your efforts I've updated the PC I'm working on here in Oz, so it does the LiveUpdates automatic-like!

Hey DaveA I got a fix for my problem with NAV Express mode. Go to this site http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/files/lu/lu.html.

At this site download an update for your live update called "lusetup.exe 2.0.30.0". When done restart your PC and go to Control Panel>symantec Liveupdate>general tab and you should see how to switch to express mode.

    Re: NAV Express Mode

I have the settings in the non auto mode since day one. I just did the selections within the Options area.
I trust NO one to use any auto update on any of my systems. I want to know what is happening and when.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: NAV Express Mode

The fix I am referring to is not Auto Update. It is Express Mode for Live update. You still have control of when and where you want to update to your list of virus protections.

    Re: NAV Express Mode

Dave, the only difference between the Express and the Interactive modes is what gets downloaded and installed, not whether or not it is done automatically. I have mine set to notify me when updates are available, and then I can choose whether or not to apply the updates. In the interactive mode, the user chooses which updates to apply (virus defs., program updates, live update updates, etc.). In Express mode, all available updates are installed.
