    Editing bookmarks

How does one enter text into an empty bookmark (using Word 97SR2)? As, for example, if one creates the bookmark without first highlighting text, and then wants to enter data. Similarly, text added to the right hand end of the bookmark text, but still inside the right hand bracket, falls outside the bookmark!!! One has to position the cursor inside the last character, add the new text (repeating the former last character) and finally delete the now-orphaned original last character. Thanks for any guidance.

Select the text, Go to Insert, Bookmarks, type the name you want the bookmark to be, and click Add.

If the bookmark already exists, it will "re-add" it to the new selection.

Yes, that works, and thank you.
