Default Values in Text Fields (2000)

    Hi,
I have a text field, nothing special. I'd like to have the following as it's default value: 8000 Jefferson Davis Highway. Everytime I type that in I get #Error in the field instead of the address. I've done some testing and realized it doesn't like the 8000, when I take that out it works fine, but I need that in there. I have put all the text in quotes. Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Deb

    Deb,

Where are you placing the default, on a form, table, report?

It should work if you put
    <code>"8000 Jefferson Davis Highway"</code>
in the Default Value property, or else
    <code>="8000 Jefferson Davis Highway"</code>

    Deb,

I just used a test database to add a text field in the table and here is my results
I placed a text field in the table and set the default to your address.
created a form for the table and added a record.
The form came up with the address and added it to the table.

The attached zip contains gif images.

    Hans,
I'll give the = a try, but I did put quotes around them. I'm sure at one time it worked, but I can't really remember. Thanks. Deb

I hate it when the blond roots go deep <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15> . I changed the field size to a larger number and it works now. I don't need the equal sign. I must have changed the size by accident.
    Thanks,
    Deb
