Special char. and .pdf (Word 2002)

I'm trying to export Word documents that have special characters, bullets, etc. But when I export to .pdf, they all appear as other strange characters. I have even made sure that the fonts used are saved with the pdf, but that doesn't matter.

I'm using Acrobat PDFwriter to export to .pdf.

    Any thoughts?

Can you post a sample doc with a couple of the characters that aren't printing? I'll see what GhostScript makes of it.

Worked fine using GhostScript and GSView. PDF is attached.

I'd suggest trying to generate a PDF directly from a printer file of the document. I don't have Acrobat (except reader), and I only use it on Unix at work, so I'm not sure if you can do PDFs directly from .prn files in Acrobat, but if not just rename the extension .ps instead of .prn -- they're the same thing. By taking Word out of the equation, you may be able to either isolate it or eliminate it as the source of the problem.

Try using PDF Distiller instead of PDFWriter. Do you get the same result?

I forgot to include the result. Here's the pdf that was produced earlier.

Re: Special char. and .pdf (Word 2002)

I don't have the full version of Acrobat, so I can't choose any other options.

What I ended up doing was downloading a different program that now converts the files correctly. Guess it was just that one program that didn't work well.

    Thanks all!
