    Portable Screen Resolutions (SP1)

    Hi,

I've just put Windows XP on my portable and I can't configure it to a true resolution above 1024 x 768 ... I suspect this is because I built it whilst it was actually in portable mode and so had a maximum screen resolution of 1024 x 768.

Now however I am connecting it to a monitor that will do more than that (and the onboard graphics will certainly do more) but all I can get is a virtual screen of 1280 x 1024 but actually only 1024 x 768.

I've uninstalled all the monitors except the 21" monitor I am using but no change.

The system is a Compaq EVO 610c (it has RADEON 7500 graphics) and the monitor is a Compaq V1100 21" monitor (easily does 1600 x 1280).

    Any ideas?

    What drivers are you using?
And where did you get them?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

HP recommends: (Compaq now belongs to HP)
ATI Video Driver and Control Panel
    version 7.962-031202M1 012957C (10 Mar 04)

    You can also try
    ATI RADEON 9800/9700/9600/9500 Driver 6.14.10.6387 Windows 2000/XP
