Format Mail Merge Field (Word XP Access XP)

Have a Mail Merge Document using Access as data source. A couple of the merge fields are 'currency' type fields. The merge works perfectly. I can format the currecy field with the '#' switch to get $ signs and 2 decimal places.

But.............Does anyone know how to show 'elipses' i.e. "( )" if the amount is negative instead of a minus sign?

Its got me !!

Hi Devious,

You can use the following numeric picture switches
# $,#.00;($,0.00) to put the leading elipsis before the $ or
# $,#.00;$(,0.00) to put the leading elipsis after the $
in both cases, the field is formatted to show thousands and cents.

Cheers

I wouldn't dare comment on your use of Field Code's - which is always such a pleasure.

But an elipsis is a symbol that looks like ... and is used to show that something has been omitted.
The symbols ( ) are called parentheses.

Hi Stuart,

The symbols ( ) are called parentheses.

True - I was replying using the same (incorrect) terminlogy as as DD's original post, so that we'd be singing from the same page in the hymn book.
