    When good discs go bad

One of the newsletters I subscribe to comes from PC World and today's edition brought a very interesting article on the longevity of CDs and DVDs. I was worried about doing a cut-n-paste from my Outlook inbox to the forum as it might contravene copyright laws. However, I was able to find the same article on the PC World home site. Here's the link to the article for those who might be interested.

    Cheers, Bob

Re: When good discs go bad

Very interesting reading, Bob, thanks for sharing. Over time I have wound up with my personal favorite brands of media through experience, and now I see why my experiences have been so hit and miss.

I would be very interested in knowing which manufacturers impose quality control standards and/or produce their own media. In particular, I have a fondness for Memorex black CD-R media which has been very stable for me. I confess to having bought the first batch because I thought they looked cool! I managed to find an article about the black CD-R media but it is decidedly unscientific...
