Great site! Something there reminded me of the trick we did as kids, which produced a banana that would be ready-sliced when freshly peeled open. It also reminded me of a great piece of software I had a decade ago, called TIM - The Incredible Machine. Now that was amazing!

The Banana Trick - is that the one involving a needle & thread?

As for TIM, I haven't played that in years! I used to spend hours and hours (mainly working hours, I'm ashamed to say) working through the levels. "Heath Robinson" is the phrase, I think.

Thanks for the link - my weekend is now occupied.

TIM was probably my favorite computer game ever. Thanks for the reminder.

I guess we won't be seeing STUART for a while then, now that TIM is back on the scene. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Yep, that's the one.

With TIM or with bananas, needle and black cotton? <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Re: Puzzle World

Well, if you've got a bit of dexterity and a lot of patience, you can sew a length of strong cotton through the skin of a banana, forming a sort of internal loop around the innards, and back out the same entry hole. When you pull this loop out, holding both ends of the cotton, you slice through the internal banana. Repeat the process at roughly even intervals and give it to someone to peel. When they see that it's presliced beneath the skin, you can tell them it's a new genetically modified "convenience" banana or something.

Using a curved needle, you can make a loop with just one puncture after some practice; but the easier way is to let the needle poke out where it wants, then resew it back through the same hole until a full loop is formed. You can also go for a continuous spiral slice up the whole length of the banana. Tedious, but a fun result.

Sounds like a fruitful and appealing trick.
