    x-y graph (2000)

    Hi,
    I've created a x-y (scatter) graph. When I hover over a point I get:

    Series "fruits" Point "310" (310,150)

Is there any way to "name" the point so that when I hover over it I will get:

    Series "fruits" Point "apple" (310,150)

    Thank you.

Not as far as I know. But you can add labels to the data points using the free XY Chart Labeler from Rob Bovey.

Unfortunately the graph's got a few hundred points on it so there's no room for lables.

    Thanks anyway

Excel has no built-in support for customizing the tooltips displayed when you hover the mouse pointer over a data point in a chart. There is a rather complicated workaround on this page on John Walkenbach's site - look for "POWER PROGRAMMING TECHNIQUE". I haven't tried it myself.
