Deleted Items Recovery with Exchange (All?)

This <!mskb=246153>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 246153<!/mskb> registry tweak looks interesting for anyone on Exchange Server with Deleted Items Recovery (aka Dumpster) installed. It supposedly allows recover of items which are hard-deleted (shift-del or shift-Delete Icon). I habitualIy hard delete items, but occasionally error on something I didn't mean to delete. I haven't tried it in Out 2003 yet.

Has anyone tried this and have any comments good/bad/otherwise about it?

This is an established workaround. The only issue tends to be how long the rentention period on the Exchange Server is set for. From memory, the "out of the box" setting in Exchange Server 2003 is 30 days and for Exchange Server 2000 it is 90 days "out of the box". Naturally, the Admin can take the trouble to reconfigure to whatever is desired. HTH

I have been using this for many months, the only problem is that I occasionally forget that it is there when I need it. Yesterday I had an urgent need for a document deleted with a mail item that same morning - so now I'm off to get it back again, thanks for reminding me.
