    Multiple Length Span Set?

    Hello,

Has anyone used WinZip version 8.1 to make span-sets of different volumes.
i.e. not just for floppies, but where user can SPECIFY the size.

    If so, how?!

    Thanks,

    BD.

I moved your post here in case other Loungers can add something more than what I have. I no longer run the 8.x version but I think it was the same as the current 9.x level. You can only "span" Zip files across removable media. However, mostly to accomodate emailing of Zip files, they have added the "splitting" capability for breaking Zip files into user defined files of a specified size. See the Help in Winzip and it'll tell you exactly what to do.

Edited by Bigaldoc to add: A screenshot sample, where I made a Zip file of 395K and then "split" it into four pieces.

I haven't used Winzip for a long time, but if it doesn't meet your requirements, there are a number of <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15>ware alternatives that seem to do this kind of operation. See here for example.
