    Function Key Toolbar

    First, you can imagine my chagrin when a user called me and started rambling about renaming items on the function key toolbar that I didn't even know existed. <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15>

    Now to the meat, she is working on a project and has temporarily assigned autotext entries to some of the function keys. Although the names reflected on the toolbar now say AutoText, she wants to edit so she can easily know what's what. Customize does not provide access. Any ideas? <img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15>

    Whoops! I completely misread that question! For some reason I interpreted it as needing to reset the toolbar - not customize the display! LOL

    I'm glad you have the answer and thanks for passing along the KB article. This is good to know.

    Hi Karen,

    Wow! It's times like this that I wish I had O2K installed so I could experiment. (Unfortunately I'm working on a O97 project)

    Here are a few ideas that I immediately thought of that you might try:

    If you go to Customize Keyboard and select the AutoText category do the shortcuts display? Can you Reset All keyboard shortcuts?

    Can you reset the toolbar via code?
    Sub ResetToolbar()
    With CommandBars("Name of Toolbar")
    .Reset
    End With
    End Sub

    Since keyboard shortcuts are stored in Normal.dot, what about recreating it?

    I doubt it is stored in the Registry, however many preferences are. What about renaming the Settings value in this Branch of the Registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice9.0WordDat a

    If that doesn

    And here I was salivating over a possible hack. <img src=/S/yum.gif border=0 alt=yum width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>
