    Outlook 2003 Not Responding (2003)

    Recently while using Outlook 2003, I have noticed the program just stops reponding. I get no error message and I cannot send, receive or open any messages. I am using Outlook 2003 on a WinXP Pro system with a wireless connection to the internet.

    Have you run Help | Detect and Repair? Have you run the 'Inbox repair tool', aka scanpst.exe, and the 'Offline folder repair tool', aka scanost.exe, on, respectively all your PSTs and your OST if you have one? Are you using any add-ins or WinFax Pro? Any PDA sync software? How many messages in your Inbox and in your Sent Box?

    Yes, I ran Detect and Repair and the Scanpst.exe. I do not have any OST. I do use Winfax Pro 10.0. The frustrating thing is that sometimes Outlook works and sometimes it does not. I do not many (less than 20) messages in my mailboxes all total.

    Brian, there could still be a number of reasons for the problem, but first read the thread beginning with <!post=this post,316948>this post<!/post> regarding issues with WinFax and Outlook 2003.

    You stated that you are on a permanent wireless connection, so I assume you are not on Exchange server, correct?

    John: You are correct, I am not on Exchange server. I will review the other post you suggested.

    Thanks,'

    John: I completely removed WinFax 10 and that seemed to to the trick. Am I stuck without WinFax?

    Brian, since I'm not a WinFax user, I can't help you much further. There is an update to Winfax 10.02;
    and instructions on unintegrating Winfax with Outlook 2003 here. It appears you may need to contact Symantec for an update CD.

    Thanks John. I will look into the Winfax further. It is not as pressing for now. If I find anything out, do you want me to let you know?

    It's always helpful to post back solutions, for Loungers who run into the same problem in the future.
