    W2K saves as wordpad

I use Word 2000 SR1. Recently when I try to save a document I've been working on in W2K it saves as a wordpad document with a .doc extension. Any thoughts on how I can save my work as a word2000/97.doc?

    thanks,

    Re: W2K saves as wordpad

    Hi Bob,

Are you suggesting this because it opens with WordPad if you double-click to open it from an Exploring window?

Both Word and WordPad use the same file extension. So if this is what you are running into then it is just a matter of the WordPad being associated with the *.doc file extension instead of Word.

To recreate the file associations for Word, go to Start/Run and run the following command:

    winword /r

Note there is a space before the forward slash.
