    Lock A Table (Access 2002)

How do you lock a table from being updated in Access?

Re: Lock A Table (Access 2002)

Depends on how secure you want it to be.

In a "standard" database meant for end users, you allow users to interact with the data only through forms designed by you, never directly in tables and queries; you hide the database window etc. You can make the forms that are bound to the table to be protected read-only. If you only want to prevent users from accidentally modifying data, this might be sufficient, but it will not keep users who are familiar with Access from changing data deliberately.

If you want to really secure a table, you must set up user-level security. See The Secrets of Security on WendellB's website. It contains a short introduction and useful links.
