    Underline argument for wdDialogFormatFont (Word 2003)

    Hi
    I am trying to set the arguments in the wdDialogFormatFont dialog from a VB application.

    All the settings display correctly, except for Underline. No matter what value is applied, the Font dialog box displays "None" for Underline style. When the user selects selects an Underline style (e.g. Single), then clicks OK, the correct setting is returned from the Font Dialog argument lists, but as soon as one tries to display the dialog again with the new value, it returns to "None".

    The same behaviour occurs whether I use dialog.Display or dialog.Show

    I haven't tested it on the other versions of word yet, so am not sure whether they behave in the same way.

    Any ideas? Many thanks

    It's similar in Word 2002. It seems that the dialog displays the underline setting of the selection in the document, but it WILL apply the setting specified in the macro. So for example, if you select some text that has single underlining (wdUnderlineSingle = 1), and run this code:

    With Dialogs(wdDialogFormatFont)
    .Underline = wdUnderlineDouble
    .Show
    End With

    the dialog will display single underlining, but if the user clicks OK without changing anything, double underlining will be applied. Seems a bug to me, but I can't find anything about it in the MSKB or in the newsgroups.

    It's a bug allright. Many of the dialogs have been broken in recent versions, and every new version is worse than the previous one.
