    read only (access 2k)

    Hi

I am quite new to Access and to this forum, I have tried the search feature but cannot find the right information.

I have created some databases on my home machine and burnt them to CD and bough them into the office to work on them here, however when they open they say that they are read only, can anybody tell me why this would be and what I need to do to be able to work on thm.

    Thanks

    Fat

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

When you copy a file from a CD to hard disk, it is read-only by default. Select the files in Windows Explorer, press Alt+Enter or select File | Properties, and clear the Read-only check box, then click OK. They should be back to normal then.

Note: this holds for all files copied from a CD, not only for Access databases.
