New send problems (2003 on WinXP pro)

Suddenly I am having a problem sending email both that I create and when I reply. I have not changed my settings, but have checked to make sure that it is still set properly. Something new has happened and I don't know how to tackle the problem. Hints: When I send it *immediately* after creating it, it often will go. Opening it in the Outbox and punching send again does not help. The listing in the Outbox is not in italics. Restarting Outlook or Windows does not seem to help.

This must be going around. See this thread from yesterday for a short-term workaround. I don't know why this is happening (and I think I'll stick with Outlook 2002 for a while longer).

Maybe that *hint* holds a clue... Do you have Outlook "autosave" messages as you compose them? In the Outbox or in the Drafts folder?

Not sure about Outlook 2003, but in 2002, the setting was under:

Tools > Options... > Preferences tab > E-mail Options... button > Advanced E-mail Options... button

Save unsent items in [Drafts|Inbox|Sent Mail|Outbox]
    AutoSave unsent every __ minutes

Dragging into the Inbox and sending worked for me too.
I do have the autosave option on - and have had.
Sending a test message from inside the configuration for my e-mail works.
I am always suspicious of the MS auto-updates - wonder if this is the problem. It's one thing that has changed lately.

Update: I turned off the auto save and that didn't change anything. I checked the Send immediately when connected box and things go... but not if I un-check it.
