Open word 2000 in wordperfect 7

Is it possible to open a word 2000 doc in wp 7? I have a colleague who has to do this urgently. wp 7 causes a fault (gpf?) when this is tried. It opens word 97 files fine.

Thanks.

My first trip would be to the Corel page to see if they have an update to handle it.

Otherwise, the individual who created the Word2K file should save as WordPerfect 6.x which your friend should be able to open.

Thanks, checked at corel, cannot find anything. User at w2k end seems deficient and unable to grok saving as anything else but the default.

Any other ideas?

Sorry. The Wd2K user must certainly be a Stranger in a Strange Land.

If you want to talk him/her through it I'd be glad to provide instruction. Otherwise, I'm fresh out of ideas.

Have your colleague try this: Open the doc in Word2000, Do a Save As, and at 'Files of Type', Choose WordPerfect 5x for Windows. Then have them open it from Explorer not WordPerfect.
In my opinion, WP6.1 does a better job of opening files of this type (i.e. files saved 'down'), WP8 ok, but WP 7 was a bit of a hence suggestion to open via Explorer.
