    Relationships (Access 2000)

Advice on a question of good practice please.

I have a database that I have split so that the tables are in a separate backend database. It sits on the server and three or four people have identical copies of main database on their own computers, all linked to the tables on the server.

The system works well, but is it better to set up the relationships between the tables on the Backend database or on the individual copies on each machine?

I would very much appreciate your advice

If you set up the relationships in the backend database, they will be reflected in the front end automatically, so there is no need to set up relationships in the front end.

    Thanks Hans,

What I was getting was from the 'purists' point of view, which is the better way, or is the answer there is no 'Best' solution

    Regards

    Michael

By setting up the relationships in the backend, ALL frontends will use them. You won't be able to remove or edit the existing relationships between the linked tables in the frontend, so consistency is assured.
