    Boolean operators in Find Messages

I think of myself as a patient type. You know, the sort who doesn't hurl his computer out of the window in frustration. But this time, Microsoft has really got me screaming! <img src=/S/scream.gif border=0 alt=scream width=15 height=15>

All I want to do is find a message.

I know I received several messages regarding a chap called Don. I've found some of them, but I don't know whether I have deleted the others or moved them - and I have a fairly big set of folders these days, so I don't want to go trolling through them all.

Easy - Use "Find" with "Don". Nope - that gives me whole hosts of messages which also include "London". I don't want to use "exact match" either, because the case may not be right. So, "Don" and NOT "London", yes?

No. I cannot find anywhere that I can enter boolean operators. Sure, I can enter two search criteria - but it defaults to AND, so messages containing "Don" and not containing "London" gives me an even bigger list than before!

Help! Please! <img src=/S/grovel.gif border=0 alt=grovel width=31 height=23> I'm going mad over here. Surely I can do boolean searches somehow!

    Regards,

    Stuart

As an interim solution until one of the loungers provides the definitive answer, how about searching on "<space>Don<space>" (obviously using the space char in the search string) in the Value field on the Advanced tab of the Advanced Find dialogue?

Thanks for the tip, but it didn't work. It quite happily carried on finding such delights as "London" and "done". <img src=/S/weep.gif border=0 alt=weep width=21 height=16>

use advanced find and the advanced tab. set it to find and match don exactly. you'll need to use his full display name. or you may be able to use other options in advanced find dialog.
