    MS Office SR-1/SR-1a Update (2K / SP3)

On opening a specific file I get a warning that the file may be corrupt as described in MS Knowledge Base Article 241581.
On testing for the number of ListTemplates, I find that there are in excess of 2000.
Apparently the cure is to install MS Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Update which requires that the registry also be modified.
MS Knowledge Base Article 326585 states that before installing Service Pack 3, SR-1/SR-1a must be installed.

    Now the Questions:
    1. Does anyone know what will happen if one attempts to install SP3 without installing SR-1/SR-1a first?
    2. Having installed SR-1/SR-1a and made then adding LTOverflowRecovery to the registry; when SP3 is installed, is LTOverflowRecovery deleted from the registry, or revised in any manner?
    Regards
    Don

I think the answer to (1) is that it should tell you to go get SR-1 first.
    No idea on (2).

I don't think it is possible to install SP-3 without installing SP1. The SP's must be installed sequentially. I don't understand the reference to modifying the registry. Word 2000 SP-1 mandates that you enter the number on the CD and that the call home feature is activated. This means that you will only get 50 uses of the program unless it is activated by Microsoft. Is this the registry change you referred to?

    Hi Fred

No i was referring to the Windows Registry that is accessed from Start / Run / regedit. ref : <!mskb=241581>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 241581<!/mskb>

CAUTION - Do not poke around in the registry unless you are certain of what you're doing. It could be fatal to your system.

    Hi Don:
The answer to your second question is "No". The modification will not be deleted from your registry when you install SP-3.
    Cheers,
