Adding only 1 record to a form (2000)

I have a subform on a main form that has a checkbox quoteout (yes/no), quoteout date, quotein date. Basically I only want one record to be added into this subform per the main form connection. The relationship between the two tables is a one-many so I'm assuming that's why I can add in many records in the subform. But each machine (main form data) can only have one quote that's why I only want one record in the subform. Can I force that? I did try looking at the relationships, oooo, that just gave me a thought. I'm going to try something while I await a response.
    Thanks,
    Deb

If there can be only one subform record per main form record, you don't need a separate table (and a subform). You can include the QuoteOut, QouteOut and QouteIn fields in the main table (and form).

Well....sometimes we just try and make it harder don't we? Thanks.
