    Save old Emails (6.0)

    I recently reformatted my computer and before that I saved all the emails that were saved in my outlook express. I right clicked on my Inbox ---> Properties and looked at the path to see where these file resided. then I went ahead and copied everything in that folder and saved them into a rewritable CD. How can I go about to restore these emails back on my computer.
    Thanks a lot

    Welcome to the Lounge

    Take a look as MSKB 270670

    You need to follow the steps in the "Import Messages from the Backup Folder" section.

    You may also like to look at the utility OEBackup for backing up & restoring OE data files.

    Hi, Kada ~

    If you are using Windows 2000 or XP, navigate to:

    <small>Cocuments and Settings<username>Local SettingsApplication DataIdentities{<- -long number - ->}MicrosoftOutlook Express</small>

    and copy all the .dbx files to a CD or other medium, then copy back to the same location once your OS is reformatted & OE is installed and set-up.

    Possibly you might need to follow Bruce's instructions with changing the files from Read-Only to Read-Write, since files normally will retain the Read-Only attribute when copied from CD. In Windows Explorer, right-click the files and choose properties.
