Print many files at once (2003)

I would like to send to the printer several documents at once. Normally one would open reach file and print, but if you have 12 documents this gets tedious. Is there a way of having word sending all the documents to the printer at once?

Open Windows Explorer then find and select the files you want printed. Right click and select "Print". This will send the documents to the DEFAULT printer, so if the printer you want to use is NOT the default, make it so.

    Welcome to the Lounge

This is quite easy to do.
    <UL><LI>Within Word select "File>Open"
<LI>Select the files you want to print
<LI>Click on Tools (top right of dialog box) and select Print[/list]On some versions of Word you could just right click on the list of files and select Print but this option does not appear to work with Word 2003 & Windows XP

    Tony,
The selecting and right clicking has worked on ALL versions of Office I have used, including XP and 2003.

Re: Print many files at once (2003)

    Hi Dave

When I try to right-click & select print the following happens (using Win XP Pro & Office 2003). I am not too concerned about this as I never use the right click option to print multiple files.

If 1 file is selected I get a message which states "The command can not be performed because a dialog box is open. Click OK, then close open dialog boxes to continue."
When the File>Open dialog box is closed Word prints off the file.

With more than 1 file selected, for some bizarre reason options to move & copy the files come up, when I cancel these dialogs the same message about the command can not be performed appears. Closing the File>Open dialog finally results in the files being printed.

Selecting Print from the Tools list prints the files straight away with no other messages or dialog boxes appearing.

A quick google check shows others have reported different problems trying to print this way.

You are doing this from the "Word Open File" dialog box ?
I use Windows Explorer to get to the list and do NOT have any problem. Just tried from within Word and yes, I get the same as you.
