    Partial Installs (2003)

    Hi All,

I have a legit CD of Office 2003. My wife teaches MS Publisher and has been told by her students that Publisher 2003 is very different than previous versions. She has Publisher 2000 (plus the rest of Office 2000) installed on her PC but would like to load Publisher 2003 to see what's different.

I am getting a new laptop and would like to load 2003 onto it. I don't really care about Publisher and can use it for my own learning on her PC (when I can get onto it).

I know you can only load Office onto 1 PC in general. But can I split things so as to load Publisher 2003 on her PC and the rest of Office 2003 onto my new laptop?

    TIA

    Fred

I haven't read the latest license, but for earlier versions the license or Microsoft's FAQ said no, Office is a unit and the applications can't be subdivided. (Also, the dual installation permission is for a single person's use.)

    Jefferson,

    thanks for the response.

What is the dual installation permission? I assume this is something if a backup is needed. Both of us use both computers (the desktop is used by my wife about 80% of the time and by me 20%; the laptop will be used by me about 95% of the time and 5% by her). I actually use Office on the desktop because that's where the printer is connected (rather than loading a floppy or connecting the laptop via a 2nd cable). So I use both computers for office. Maybe I should read the license.

If you Google for "Publisher 2003 2000" (but without the quotes) you may get some stuff to enable comparison!

    John,

    Thanks.

For the wife, there's nothing like trying it out for real.

My suggestion was cheaper, but obviously less comprehensive/effective!!
