copying previous record field plus one (97)

    Hi All,
Is it possible to assign a key combination that will insert the information from the previous record field (numeric) plus 1. Ctl-' gives the previous record maybe assign Ctl-Shft-' for previous record plus 1. Thanks for looking.

In short, the answer is no. For one thing, it depends on the sort order of the recordset, so if the user decides to sort things, you might get entirely different values than you wanted. If you have to have things that way, more often than not you have a problem with the database schema. You can do that sort of thing by writing some code and then assigning a key combination to it, but I would look long and hard at the reason for doing so to begin with.

I agree with Wendell that what you want is not practicable.

Perhaps you can use Ctrl+', then increment or decrement the value using code as posted in <post#=350544>post 350544</post#>.

Many thanks to both of you for your reply. The code in post 350544 will definitely help make things a little quicker and avoid typing errors. Thanks again.
