    Symbols (Excel 2000)

Is there a way to add a symbol, (the top two sides of a triangle) to Excel 2000. The keyboard shortcut does not work. And if I try to cut and paste the symbol from Word to Excel, it gives a U with a dot on top.

I think you're referring to this symbol: ^ If so, it's located on your keyboard at Shift 6. If not, go to Start/ Run/, then type "charmap", locate the symbol you want to use, copy and paste into your spreadsheet.

    Hope this helps.

Set the font to Symbol - do this for the cell as a whole if it contains only the single character, or if the cell contains several characters, select only the character you need (the U with a diacritic on it) in the formula bar, then select Symbol from the Font dropdown list in the toolbar. You will only see the special character in the cell itself, the formula bar will still display the U with a diacritic.
