Do you mean the long Product ID # for your copy of Windows ME or a "CD Key" that was on a sticker on the jewel case or envelope that the CD came in ??
Does your current installation still operate or is the system dead or damaged and you are attempting to reinstall ?? If it still operates, there is a little utility you can download that will extract your Product ID #. It's called Magical Jellybean Keyfinder and you can find it here. HTH

If you've got an installed WinME but have misplaced the key, I'm pretty sure that running Belarc Advisor will reveal what it is. If you've got an un-installed CD however, I don't know how you can find a key for it. I've never heard anyone report any help from MS on that kind of problem.
It was the CD install key and magic been sure is magic thanks
Belarl fits the bill a wee bit OTT but thank you
Glad it worked out.
Magic Bean is a great little tool. It doesn't "create" a CD # for you to use on pirated software, it just finds your product ID if you've misplaced it. Belarc is for when you want to know "the whole story". While Magic Bean is just for discovering the Windows and Office ID numbers.
