    independent subforms (A2k)

I would like to use If..Then in the After Update event on subform1 to set a value in subform2, if that value is currently Null. Subform1 and subform2 are independent, i.e. subform 2 is not a subform of subform1. I can't find information on how to handle the references. Everything I'm finding assumes subform2 is a subform of subform1.

    What is the correct syntax?

From subform1, you can refer to the main form as Me.Parent, and through this to subform2:

    Me.Parent!SubForm2!ControlName

    or

    Me.Parent.SubForm2.Form.ControlName

See Forms: Refer to Form and Subform properties and controls on the Access Web for an overview.
