    FILLIN field prompt (xp)

    Hi

I have a word form that is a merge document and the data source is an Access query. I have a fill-in field and I would like it to say, for example, "Fill in the PAR# for Joe Schmoe." Joe Schmoe comes from the Access query. I've got the prompt to show the "Fill in the PAR# for" part but how do I tell it to plug in the first name in the query, then the second, etc??

    Thanks much.

    Re: FILLIN field prompt (xp)

    Hi Nancy:
I haven't used Word 2002, so it may be that you need to set Tools/Options/General/confirm conversions at open. Then use a Select method in the "Open datasource" box when setting up the merge, & use "DDE". Then Word should handle the fill-in automatically during the merge. That's the purpose of the fill-in field. See this article for how to use just one prompt.
    Cheers,
