Hiya doing Eileen! I have not experienced the problems you are having on Windows 2000 but I have to mention that installing Easy CD Creator on Windows XP is a BAD idea. I have a working beta of XP and after installing the app onto the machine ... it blue screened and I could do nothing with it ... there was nothing I could do to recover from the crash... your warning has not fallen on deaf ears ...

Haven't tried CD Creator 5, but DirectCD in CD Creator 4 caused my Win2000 machine to continuously reboot. Roxio has posted a fix, but since I don't use or need DirectCD, I simply deleted that feature and everything works fine again.

I run Easy CD Creator 4 on my NT laptop without any problems, but DirectCD has always been iffy in all the versions I know of.

Hmm. I have Easy CD Creator 4 on my Win ME machine at home and have not had issue one. As a matter of fact, DirectCD has been very stable and works wonders. It really has been like having an easily removable, if somewhat small, harddrive. I don't know what that means, but I hate to see a product that has been good to me get bashed without putting in my 2 cents. Nobody is bashing it. There were warnings posted about using DirectCD in certain configurations on various newsgroups and even in the Adaptec site forums. If it works for you, great!

I had problems using the new version. It worked great at first for data cd's, but wouldn't record music cd's. Their web site stated I would have to download an update. I did, and before it would get through, I would get an error, and ended up tossing too many cd-r's. I started using MusicMatch, and have not had ONE SINGLE problem with it.

Has anyone gotten word on whether Roxio has a fix for these issues yet? I installed it once upon a time, and all was well, but since reinstalling Windows 2000 and reading the news on the boards and the Internet I've been afraid to push my luck. This might be the time that I get hosed....but I really would like to use some of the features 5 has.

Barring that, I guess it's Nero Burning ROM for me!

I have only just acquired a 'coaster maker' and can do most things I want with the supplied software (NTI CD Maker 2000) except play at putting very old LPs, 78s and tapes onto CD as standard CD digital NOT MP3.

Can anyone suggest suitable software for my PC (running Win98SE) that I can use for this purpose. That is splitting up the data stream into separate tracks etc. manually/automatically and building up an image on the hard disc to be transferred to the CD or suggest suitable news groups for enquiries (or both!)?

As my Creative writer RW1210E cannot do 1X speed I cannot record in real time from this media.

Hi John,

EZ CD Creator 4 is still reliable, if you can find it. Check around. Also, Nero Burning ROM and WinOnCD are good alternatives.

If you're interested in mastering your LP collection, you will need more than just CD software. You'd need a good audio program - my preference is CakeWalk.

I use Music Match Juke Box as a swiss army knife for audio. There are other software around. Check out <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.hitsquad.com>http://www.hitsquad.com</A> and subscribe to their Music Software Weekly if you want to stay current on Music Software.

PS: CakeWalk (as previously mentioned) is another good choice. Particularly if you need to clean up your LP audio.

The Spin Doctor utility on EZ looks very useful for my purposes. I was about to order EZ CD Creator 4.03 OEM for under $30 before realising that it was probably the bundled version rather than the Deluxe. Can get v 4.0 of that down to at least $50.
