    Font Size in Firefox

This just happened this morning. All of a sudden, when I refreshed a page in Firefox, the font got smaller & the horizontal lines (on forum index pages) got closer together. This happened with Mozilla & Netscape about a week ago, but not to Firefox. IE will still render the pages correctly. I'm using Oldstyle XL. Was there a change this AM about 11:00 or so? or last night? <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>

    Hi Phil

I use Firefox with DarkGray 12 point skin and have not noticed any change. I switched to Oldstyle 14 point and compared Firefox and IE side by side. The font size & horizontal spacing were the same.

Have your fonts and colors options within Firefox become corrupted or changed? My settings are the same as those shown on the linked page apart from using Arial instead of Tahoma.

    Re: Font Size in Firefox

    Hi Tony:
Thanks for responding. There's nothing corrupt that I know of & my settings are the same as yours. I noticed that although Firefox has an option to use my fonts, there isn't an option to use my sizes. There is a minimum size setting, but it doesn't do anything in the Lounge, so far as I can see.

I do have IE accessibility option set to ignore font sizes. Maybe that's making the difference. The thing is, everything was the same in both NS, Mozilla, Firefox, IE, & Avant Browser. Now the first three give me a smaller size & I didn't make any changes. Strange. Anyhow, I haven't yet installed the latest Firefox, so I'll give that a try.

None that I'm aware of, Phil, but I do know that Firefox likes to keep things in its cache and does not always check for newer versions on the server. Perhaps that is why you saw things change at different times?

    Re: Font Size in Firefox

Thanks, Mark. I just completely uninstalled the old version (.8) & installed 9.2, but I still get small sizes. There must be something in the registry, because it's happened to my old version of Netscape (4.75), which I still use for email. Something's changed, but I'll be <img src=/w3timages/censored.gif alt=censored border=0> if I can figure out what.

Phil, one thing you could try is to create a new profile in Mozilla/Firefox to determine if it is related to profile settings.

    I'm starting to regret that I ever twiddled with skins.... <img src=/S/woops.gif border=0 alt=woops width=58 height=36>

How about uploading a test version for Phil - it substitutes values like x-small for 12px so that the stylesheet takes on the browser settings?

    Re: Font Size in Firefox

That might be the solution. I did not modify any of the "old" skins when I ported them over, I kept all of the original syntax intact - the only true change was in adding comments to the style sheets so that it was clear what each setting controlled.

    We'll have to see what <img src=/S/claude.gif border=0 alt=claude width=21 height=21> says about the test version, since he is the one who implements the final product. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

    Hi Mark:
I deleted the old profile when I uninstalled Firefox .8, so I set up a brand new one with Firefox 9.2. But no one else seems to have this problem, so it's probably something I did. <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>

Aye, just because no one else has spoken out does not mean that it is not happening elsewhere. Nonetheless, it's easier to say that it's something you did than to try and fix it. <img src=/S/duck.gif border=0 alt=duck width=23 height=23> <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

    Re: Font Size in Firefox

I just installed 0.9.2, and I noticed that unlike IE, using Ctrl+ScrollWheel will increase and decrease the "hard" font sizes in the stylesheet. Does this help. Or Ctrl++?

    Re: Font Size in Firefox

    Hi Jefferson:
Yes, I use Ctrl++ twice to increase the font size. Trouble is, I have to do that for every link I click on. I don't know why no one else seems to have the problem. Maybe my eyes are worse. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Maybe all the others have switched to new skins. "FoxPelt" perhaps? <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

    Re: Font Size in Firefox

I'm still using Firebird 0.6 but if I hold the ctrl key down I can change the font size with the scroll wheel, otherwise, the scroll wheel simply scrolls the page up/down.
I'm using the "Beige (s)" skin but I don't think that has anything to do with the respnse to the scroll wheel. It's more lilely one of the "Extensions".

    Have a Great day!!!
