    Removing automated endnotes and cross-refs (2000sr3)

    We have to submit a word document to a journal. They want all endnotes to be non-automated - just superscript numbers without automatic updating when notes are added/deleted. In fact, we should probably do these as cross-references to bookmarks, since we have several references to the same note.
    In any event, has anyone written a macro that will go through a word file and replace cross-reference fields with their displayed values and/or replace all endnote reference numbers with the displayed number?

    This macro will replace all cross references (REF fields) with their result:

    Sub RemoveCrossRefs()
    Dim fld As Field
    For Each fld In ActiveDocument.Fields
    If fld.Type = wdFieldRef Then
    fld.Unlink
    End If
    Next fld
    Set fld = Nothing
    End Sub

    See <post#=383616>post 383616</post#> for a macro to change endnotes to text, or this newsgroup post.
