from OE to XP (version 6)

I have a new computer on order which will have Windows XP Home OS.
Presently I'm running Win 98 SE.
I use Internet Explorer 6 and OE 6.
I have followed a number of threads about transferring OE files to other computers and the problems encountered by some of those who have attempted it..
Would someone please give me an easy and concise walk-through to transfer the WAB and selected folders from my present Win98 system to my new Win XP system when it arrives. Perhaps there are a number of ways to do it. Please let me know.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jack

First there is locating the files. Then copying them to the other computer (either via network or CD). Then installing or importing them into OE on the new computer. You're right that the details on how this works (or doesn't always work) is spread over a number of threads, or a number of posts in the same thread. I think, though, that you are in the perfect position to put that together. Could you pull together and post a document covering the whole process? People then could suggest revisions where they see potential problems. (If it's any incentive, it would make a great "Star post.")

Re: from OE to XP (version 6)

Well I've come up with a solution to transferring all my OE messages to my new computer and OE 6.
I forwarded all my messages as attachments from my old computer to another computer (your own or take your pick of friends) then forwarded them to my new computer .
If you do this make sure each email is downloaded soon or the email quota might be reached for the receiving computer. This took 8 separate emails. Then all my messages were on another computer and could be forwarded to me when I asked for them.
I was able to forward all my messages by going into each of my OE folders and selecting all of the messages contained therein, then forwarding them to my email address.(each folder was a separate email.)
I made sure I used "send" only so they wouldn't come right back to me immediately.
I made sure the messages were not too big.
Then I hooked up my new computer ( after disconnecting the old one) and downloaded the messages which were forwarded (remembing about mailbox quotoas). I got them all by double clicking the attachments and redirecting them to their proper folder.
It was easy to direct them to the correct folder by using the "move to" icon on the tool bar.
It sounds like a lot of work but actually it didn't take too long.
    Now everybody is happy.
