    background

    Hello all,

My company has implemented a poclicy that the desktop background is set to a certain picture and the properties have been locked by the system administrator "Your system administrator has disabled the Display Control Panel". Is there a way I can still change my background picture, this one is horrible on the eyes.

    thanks

I have heard that this can be done through the registry, but where in the registry? I still have access to that!!!

Talk to your Boss, if he can not do anything for you have your Eye Doctor have some input.

Otherwise it could cost you your job?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I don't think the Lounge is the right place to come for hacks. Even if you could change the wallpaper (at HKEY_CURRENT_USERControlPanelDesktop, value named WallPaper <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>), chances are it will be replaced by the company prescribed background next time you log in.

    Re: background

This might be one of those cases where something needs to be done, something can be done -- but in all likelihood should not be done. If an employer has gone through the trouble to lock down certain features on a computer, finding a back door in and forcing a change might very well put the job in jeopardy. A bit of diplomacy with the boss would likely go over much better: eye strain -> headaches -> loss of productivity, versus simple solution.
